GENOVESA

This little horseshoe-shaped island in the northern part of the archipelago can only be visited as a part of one of the cruises. It is an interesting island formed by the nowadays almost completely submerged volcano crater. The island is very popular among ornithologists, as it is a home to huge roosts of both pelagic and endemic birds. The most famous location is Darwin Bay, where the visitors can spot red-footed boobies, swallow-tailed gulls, the smallest of the marine iguana species and large colonies of sea lions.
